Captain’s Log: Stardate 260419

I have some professional investment in the success of the Braves. It’s good for the ol’ day job when they’re doing well. But if there weren’t a more personal connection, it wouldn’t be any fun.

I am still trying to make letters into words and words into sentences regarding the Cobb Galleria Center and really my experience of Atlanta. I am not from Atlanta. I don’t live in Atlanta. I only get there a couple of times a year.

I don’t want to romanticize a place, to cheapen it, to flatten it into a postcard, but I do want to have a long, shared thought about how places accrue meaning for us.

I am too busy and too tired to do the job right now. I’ve got so much to get to, really.

Suffice it to say, I am enjoying the Braves’ success because a long time ago when I was a nearsighted little boy I used to wonder why my granddad liked to watch the Braves from behind his eyelids.

That’s enough schmaltz from me. Until next time.
