I’m going to get back to that game design I was working on yesterday so that at last I can play Anime Television Block Programming Director: The Roleplaying Game. But not tonight. Tonight I’m going to take a bit of a break. It’s been a busy week.
Some food for thought: Earlier today my sister was talking about people looking down their noses at dubs. It was funny to me because that poor horse has died, been reborn, and died again multiple times just since I was old enough to be aware of it in the hazy forum days of the early ’00s.
There are bad dubs. There are bad original voiceovers. There are bad subs. Purity in translation is a false notion. Watch what you want to watch in the way it best suits you to watch it. You don’t need my permission.
This reminded me, though, of Matt Colville talking recently about these types of debates in nerd circles and how they cycle. It’s good to be a seasoned nerd, to see the cycle continue and exist somewhat outside it.
